Ideas for Success – Summer 2020

Is your Organisation a Learning Organisation?

A learning organisation is one that has a process of acquiring knowledge and using that information to adapt to changing circumstances.

In these exceptional times, it is tempting to jump straight into cutting costs but, before you do, remember your people are a precious resource and a key factor in helping your business meet the unique challenges of Covid-19.

Budget cutting is like pruning a tree; you must be careful where you cut, or you will cause permanent damage.

The seven building blocks of a Learning Organisation are:

  • Supportive environment
  • Learning culture
  • Learning process that blends online and face to face
  • Leadership support
  • Peer group for your learners
  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Adequate budget

How many of the above building blocks can you honestly say apply to your organisation?

Mark your business out of ten as it is now and where you would like it to be and look for the biggest gaps – what can you do to close those gaps?

According to a recent Gallup survey, 80% of the jobs that will exist in 2030 have not yet been invented so you must prepare your team for further change and adaptability.

In my experience, good personal skills are critical for agility, flexibility and creativity, leading to success.

There are specific steps you can take to transform your company into a more effective learning organisation. To find out more, please contact me alan@mrwcs.com.
